Male Infertility Absence of Sperm Aspermia
Written by The Blue Heron Clinic
The definition of Aspermia is the complete lack of semen (which is not to be confused with azoospermia, lack of sperm cells in the semen). This Men's health condition is naturally closely associated with Male Infertility. One of the causative factors of aspermia is retrograde ejaculation - this condition can result due to excessive use of recriational drugs or prostate surgery. An additional cause of aspermia is ejaculatory duct obstruction, which may result in a complete lack of or a very low-volume semen (oligospermia), in which the semen contains only the secretion of accessory prostate glands downstream to the ejaculatory ducts.
Male Fertility and Aspermia
Men who are suffering from aspermia may often have a normal of sperm cell volume and can father a child, via artificial reproductive therapy such as sperm harvesting and injection into the female partner. In men suffering from retrograde ejaculation, the sperm may be harvested by channeling the patient's urine through a centrifuge to separate out the semen, while in men suffering from ejaculatory duct obstruction, the sperm must be harvested directly from the man's testicles.
The Blue Heron Clinic provides Acupuncture treatment for Men suffering from Infertility.
