Reiki the Biggest Questions
Written by The Blue Heron Clinic
There are many questions to be asked when one first comes to Reiki as a healing modality. One I have heard often is whether a practitioner can 'feel' energy, or more specifically, whether a practitioner can feel 'negative' energy. This is slightly ironic, as what people are actually asking is if practitioners can feel energy blockages. Everyone feels energy blockages. Every time we experience aches or pains, headaches, toothaches, heartaches or just general fatigue we are experiencing an energy blockage. When the energy channels of our bodies become blocked we are alerted to this by physical pain. So in a sense, we all feel negative energy – 'blockages'. What Reiki aims to do is to release the tension that is causing the blockage by bringing the client into a deep state of relaxation, a state of relaxation that is unfamiliar to many of us.
A Blue Heron Reiki treatment aims is to bring our client into a deep state of relaxation and stillness. During the hours session our
client will remain fully clothed and covered lying atop a suitable massage table. Everything in the clinic is in place to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that allows our client to fully relax, to feel cared for, nurtured and honoured.
With soothing music playing in the background one need only do their best to forget the stresses of daily life and allow themselves to reconnect with their own innate balance. Reiki will help to do this.
What Reiki feels like
Reiki has been reported as having many sensations, including; warmth, cold, vibration, tingling, buzzing and sometimes no sensation at all. It is a very subtle energy. While some may feel the effects straight away, others require a few treatments to become more sensitive to the sensations. One certainty is that a deep level of relaxation is attainable, a level that would require many hours of meditation for most people to achieve. This helps to induce a balanced and calm state of mind and body with which our client can return to their day to day duties. Our aim is always to promote calm, balance and wellness.
Focusing within
Part of the reason that Reiki, and deep states of relaxation in general are such an unknown is because of our preoccupation with our external world. We are not generally trained to focus inwardly, and we become hypnotised with the ever accelerating and stimulating world around us. This constant stimulation can cause us to lose awareness of our own thoughts, emotions and physical sensations within our bodies. This loss of awareness can cause stress to build up. Very often we only notice what is happening in our body when something goes wrong. As well as a therapy to relieve symptoms of illness, Reiki can also be used as a preventative measure to cultivate a much more sensitive awareness of our own bodies, our internal energy flow and our individual stress levels and how to manage them. In fact, a person in a good state of health and a calm state of mind may have a much more powerful experience of Reiki than a person who arrives in discomfort or pain.
Our Aim
Our aim is always to work towards a state of balance. We do this through inducing a deep state of relaxation that would be difficult for a client to attain on their own. So please, should you feel the inclination to give Reiki a go, do not hesitate to contact me and I will be delighted to welcome you to the Blue Heron Clinic.
Warmest regards,
