Kinesiology

Each organ in the body has its own energy meridian (pathway). In traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the flow of energy in the body is considered to be as vital as the blood-flow. When energy becomes blocked or imbalanced it manifests as pain in different areas of the body and or as illness such as anxiety, stress, panic attacks, problems relaxing and sleeping, stomach, thyroid and skin disorders, low self esteem, lack of confidence and often depression and a feeling of being disconnected and lost.

Physical symptoms are often treated but unless the underlying problem is identified and treated, pain and illness often re-occur or a new illness develops.  A Kinesiology session lasts one hour (approx.). The client remains fully clothed, a range of muscle response tests are carried out and the kinesiologist identifies which energy meridians are imbalanced. Light pressure is applied to acupressure points on the body to restore the natural flow of energy and facilitate self healing. Ann often recommends herbs to help the healing process.

Integrated Energy Therapy ( IET )

(Healing with the energy of Angels)

IET is a powerful yet relaxing healing therapy. It helps to release blocked energy and to restore a sense of well-being and ease. It is a particularly gentle healing therapy for anyone who feels disconnected or lost and for anyone who has suffered abuse or trauma. It doesn't change what happened, but by receiving this spiritual healing it can leave a person feeling stronger and help them accept that although the abuse they suffered was wrong, they may not hold the same anger, hurt or sadness.

Self – confidence and a feeling of being in one's own power is restored.

Case Studies

Case-1

David – 24 year old young man

David was feeling very low and depressed and was consuming large amounts of alcohol every weekend. He had finished college a year before and had started work almost immediately in a busy environment. He had a very good income and a large circle of friends, both from college and work. Drinking was a big part of his social life since his late teens, with more money to spend he began to drink more and had been smoking cannabis occasionally.

Suddenly, the company he worked for ceased trading and David was made redundant. He was now in receipt of social welfare and with the change in circumstances, he was finding it increasingly difficult to cope. He couldn't relax and was waking in the middle of the night and was having very dark and negative thoughts. He became very fearful of the future, wondering how he would pay his loans and how he would face his family and friends. He was thinking of emigrating but this filled him with panic.

Following a series of Kinesiology Muscle Monitoring tests, David s body showed imbalances in the stomach, spleen, brain, kidney and lung meridians. This is not surprising as the stomach and spleen hold anxiety and stress. The ongoing stress resulted in excess levels of cortisol and adrenalin being released in the body, which lead to physical discomfort as well as feelings of panic and fear. He feared he would not have enough money to support himself, that he wouldn't be able to pay off his loans and he was also afraid of the thoughts he was having.

Fear can cause the kidney meridian to be out of balance and obsessive thoughts can lead to over energy in the central (brain) meridian.

In David's case, with over energy in his brain, the energy in the lower part of his body showed up as an under energy, giving him a sense of being disconnected and not being grounded or supported.

These feelings can be seem uncontrollable and may lead to suicidal thoughts if help is not received.

David's lung and liver meridians were imbalanced as a result of being subjected to a lot of toxins and were in need of clearing. The lungs become effected by smoking and in particular by smoking cannabis.

The lung and heart area is also where we store grief and sadness and David's spirit was indeed very low at this point.

Following a full kinesiologisy balance and the use of light pressure on acupressure points on the head and torso, David was advised to take herbal craving aid tea formulated by Dr Dilis Claire from Health and Herbs, Galway. He was also prescribed a dandelion tincture which is a powerful cleanser on all levels and is known as the flower of survival.

Metaphysically, dandelion operates like a magnet bringing in clarity of vision, focus and determination.

David was also advised to make an appointment with MABS (Money Advice & Budgeting Service) in Galway, a free confidential service for people in financial difficulty.

He was also advised to nurture and nourish his body by eating well and exercising daily, to try and be in nature more often to calm his spirit and to play music, which he said was one of his great passions in life.

David had three Kinesiology sessions and after eight weeks, he was in much better spirits. He had visited MABS and had a financial plan in place. He was taking the herbal remedies and was drinking and smoking less often. He had started playing music again and was volunteering with a football camp for children. He was still keen to get work and had registered with FAS and was continually sending CVs to different Companies. The feelings of panic were fading and he felt his attitude to life was more positive.

He booked a further two kinesiology sessions three weeks apart. He said he felt a lot more at ease with himself and stated he was no longer trying to be someone else to impress others.

Case 2

Joan – 54 year old lady married with two children

Joan was experiencing panic attacks for two years and despite taking medication to help her relax she was still anxious, fearful and her muscles had become very tense and painful. Following a series of Kinesiology muscle response tests, imbalances were identified in Joan's stomach, liver, kidney and heart meridians. When the natural flow of energy was restored by applying light pressure to acupressure points, the possible reasons for the energy blockages was discussed with Joan.

The heart can hold grief, hurt and sadness . The liver and the spleen can hold anger and resentment (caused by hurt). The stomach can hold anxiety and feelings of powerlessness. Joan had a very moody controlling father and as a child she had learned to " be a good girl ", always trying to please, to be the best and to make him proud and happy. She grew up always trying to second guess his moods and she learned not to express her feelings or needs as this always led to her being criticised and blamed for being selfish, thoughtless and weak. As an adult, Joan continued to put everyone else before herself, her parents, her husband, her in-laws, her children and her colleagues at work. She couldn't say no to others. Life continued like this until her children grew up and started working away from home. Joan reduced her hours at work to part-time. Joan thought life would get easier but she started experiencing panic attacks at unexpected times. On being asked to a party or going to the shops or waking early in the morning, she would start to experience panic gripping her and fear spreading through her body. She had difficulty breathing at times and thought her heart was going to burs. Irrational thoughts became a regular occurrence and sometimes paranoia would set in and she would feel helpless and powerless. The attack would ease and she would immediately start dreading the next one so she avoided visiting people and attending occasions. Her appetite ranged from not being hungry to binging on fatty foods and chocolate. After the first kinesiology and IET session Joan felt her body more relaxed. She was very determined to overcome her illness and booked weekly sessions for 7 weeks, then spreading them out to every three weeks, after 6 months Joan had come off her medication and was much happier. She stated that she felt lighter and that she had more confidence in herself. She was being more open about her own needs and was learning to say no sometimes while feeling good after doing so and not feeling guilty. Her relationship with her husband and children was much healthier and happier.

Her appearance changed from a very serious anxious tense person to a very happy friendly lady. Joan's family situation, past or present hadn't changed, her job or her home hadn't changed, she had changed.
