Written by Blueheronclinic.com
Annovulation - lack of ovulation
Annovulation is a cause of infertility where which the ovary does not release a ripened egg each month as part of a woman's normal cycle in her reproductive years. Naturally, with no egg available for sperm, a woman cannot become pregnant.
Oligoovulation - Infrequent Ovulation
Oligoovulation is diagnosed when ovulation occurs infrequently or irregularly. Usually, a woman ovulates, or releases a mature egg once a month, about halfway through her cycle (day 14). Oligoovulation is seen in women with irregular menstrual cycles, or very long cycles (50 days plus..).
Luteal Phase Defects
The luteal phase of the menstrual cycle occurs between ovulation and the onset of the next menstrual phase. Luteal phase defect (LPD) is a common but misunderstood condition that frequently affects fertility LPD is a failure of the uterine lining to be in the right phase at the right time. Since embryo implantation is highly dependent on the state of the lining, LPD can interfere with a woman's ability to conceive and carry a pregnancy successfully.
